Chester County's Very Own "Cassie the Mermaid"

We like to have fun in Chester County. We encourage our children to follow their dreams, and we want to make childhood magical as it should be. So it's no surprise we have a beautiful and mystical mermaid that's come from the sea to charm and entertain us at parties and special events. This week, The Lantern News and Media would like to highlight this interesting small business, so we reached out with some questions!

What inspired you to start your business?

Everyone, at any age, deserves magical moments. Life is really hard and when people come to visit a mermaid, they completely forget about anything else and just enjoy the moment. That is and will always be my inspiration.

What services or products do you offer?

I offer mermaid time for parties of all ages on land and in the water! Photo-ops, storytime, crafts, and even offer salt scrubs to keep your human legs soft and shiny like my tail! I am also a mermaid burlesque performer for more grown-up events.

What are some things that set you apart from others in your business?

Having grown up being a stage performer and dancer, I'm thankful to have developed the skills to entertain a crowd. You have to be surprisingly witty at a moment's notice sometimes, and be quick on your fins with all the bizarre questions kids ask. My background in dance allows me to be a graceful swimmer and a whimsical mermaid and even dance underwater! I'm able to offer entertainment on land or in the water.

Why should clients book/come to you?

With the variety of mermaid-ing I provide, for any age, you know you will be getting a magical experience and an event that will be remembered. I'm also flexible with ideas for your next event and can help fit your budget for what you're imagining.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I see myself being even more of a traveling mermaid and working with ocean conservation groups and sea lion rescues (sea lions are this mermaid's favorite animal). I hope to be a voice for how we can help save our oceans and help out our sea lions.

How do you get in and out without people seeing you have legs?

That takes some coordination at every event. I'm usually carried from my dressing area to the location where I'll be sitting or swimming. When being carried isn't an option, we use anything with wheels that can be pushed. It gets pretty silly but it works! For some parties that move from outdoors to indoors, that is my opportunity to sneak in and out when the crowd moves.

Have you ever been injured on the job?

Never had any major injuries on the job. Mostly sore muscles and lots of eye wash to help the red eyes from swimming.

How can people contact you? (web, phone, address, etc)

The best way to contact me is either messaging me directly on my mermaid page www.facebook.com/sugarhighsiren (It is actually me that answers) Or email me at sugarhighsiren@gmail.com
