I really enjoyed the vibe walking into Hobo's in Rock Hill. It was all modern and wood with sleek, metal light fixtures and wooden booths. I had high expectations of the establishment having eaten at the Hobo's in Fort Mill several times in the past, and they have never disappointed us. The outside seating area was beautiful, and we appreciate a space for children to be children.
Drinks
Things took a turn for the worse as soon as we received our first batch of drinks. My wife ordered a mojito that tasted like the only thing in there was club soda. Our waiter was nowhere to be found, so she took it to the bar and asked for simple syrup, and the bartender said they were out. She begrudgingly offered to make more simple syrup saying "it will take a while", and offered instead some strawberry margarita syrup. Why make the drink without all the ingredients?
Service
Our waiter was more interested in the ladies seated a few tables over. So much so, that my beer glass sat empty - the entire meal. I'm a dude...I get it, but you won't be taking those ladies out anywhere with the $0 to $2 tip you're going to receive from the other customers watching this.
The food runner had snot dripping from her nose AS SHE HANDED our food plates to us. She used her arm to wipe her nose, and said, "I'm sorry. I'm so blitzed right now."
Food
Our food was very bland. We ordered 2 burgers, the Vagabond and the Veggie Burger. We are unsure if the food runner actually works in the kitchen, but with her being "so blitzed" we understand why our food may have been bland. It literally tasted like bread and a burger or bread and [insert ingredient]. They were dry and completely unloved. Also, did anyone ever tell them that "size matters" when you're charging $13.25 for a burger??? Also, The bacon needs some viagra.
We eventually ordered some spiked milkshakes, The Bush Wacker and Banana Foster, hoping to raise our spirits after such a disappointing night. We should have saved our money. They were so terrible we could only get through what you see featured in the photos.
Rating
Hobo's of Rock Hill is receiving a FORK IT rating.
When the tap water is the only thing you have to look forward to, there's a problem.
From the terrible service, the unclean conditions, the bland food, and the awful drinks, there is nothing that redeemed this restaurant. We spent $65.17 (not including the tip) for 2 people to be miserable.
Note: We tried this establishment on opening night a few months prior. It was also a terrible experience, but we were assured it was only because it was opening night.
