My Wife's Haunted Doll Made The EMF Spike Vibrating The Table

“I want this thing out of the house. Now.”

I was irritated because she was right. I went from agreeing to keep the doll in the car to bringing the doll in to be examined.

And then my dumb self forgot about it.

In November of 2018, I was itching for a ghost hunt. I wanted to test out my paranormal equipment and was looking forward to capturing evidence for the first time. My wife, Sam, suggested I investigate a doll that her grandmother gave her when she was a child. It had always given her nightmares, and she witnessed the doll moving about inside her closet. Well, that sounded good enough for me. Before I knew it, we packed the doll up and took her home. For the sake of the investigation, I had named her Blondie. She was a schoolgirl doll with her own purse and desk. The desk was made up of wood and metal. She had long curly blonde hair, hence her nickname.

Well, given that we are in the physical world and Blondie is in the spiritual world, I had physical responsibilities to do that required both physical and mental effort. I had a job, after all. In the time that I forgot to put the doll back in the car as my wife suggested, our son began having intense night terrors that would wake up the whole house.

Didn’t I tell you to leave the doll in the car until you were ready to investigate? My wife asked.

I put her in a corner and completely forgot about her. Shoot, I should have known better. When my wife was little, she would have nightmares about the doll as well. This thing seemed to take a liking to targeting children. Not a good sign. “I want this thing out of the house. Now.” My wife continued. If I was going to keep it in the house any longer, I needed to move fast. “Tonight,” I replied. “I’ll start the investigation tonight." Instead, Sam agreed to join me on the hunt. For her, it was personal.

We only questioned the doll once, but honestly, it was all that was needed. I pulled out my EMF meter the following night and we got to work.

An Electromagnetic Field meter, or EMF meter for short, is a device designed to read EMF. It also reads other types of energy. Put it next to a light switch that is turned on and the closer you get to it the more it’ll begin to light up and buzz. Turn the light switch off and the meter won’t respond. You get the picture, I’m sure. The theory is that spirits are pure energy. If in fact, an EMF meter can detect all types of energy then it should detect spirits as well. If you find yourself in an area with a spirit and you begin asking yes or no questions, you could ask the spirit to answer by emitting energy toward your meter. If you don’t have an EMF meter, you can use a magnetic compass instead. The more the compass begins to spin at random, the closer you are to a magnetic field - or a haunted hot spot.

So there I was, EMF meter in hand right next to my wife. I laid the meter in front of the doll as she sat at her desk. Within the first eight minutes or so, nothing was happening. I tried moving the meter every which way.

Nothing.

Sam gave me an idea. She told me to put the meter right in front of the metal bars that made up the legs of the desk. Given that she is a math and science nerd, she explained that because iron is a conductor, we might be able to give the spirit a better means of communication - a little push. And that is all it took.

“Can you give me a yes or no? Is this you here?”

After five silent seconds went by, suddenly and without warning, there was a spike in the reader. As high as it could go. Lighting up like a Christmas tree - vibrating off the coffee table.

Gasp. “What the hell?!” I asked rhetorically. I knew what happened. I asked for this. I wanted this. But there was a part of me that was in complete disbelief. And there we were, watching the EMF meter begin to flicker - a little here, a little there. It was active. We asked if Blondie was there and she freaking responded! It’s as if we woke her up.

But here’s a question: How do we shut it off?

Never mind that, is this thing a demon or a ghost? If it’s targeting kids, wouldn’t that make it malevolent? “Do you enjoy scaring children?” My wife asked the doll.

Nothing.

Wait. Demons can lie, can’t they?

We decided to cut the investigation short after Blondie continued to remain silent. It should be noted that about the time I finished uploading my evidence to YouTube, I started to feel a strange attachment to the doll like I was being pulled in. I know now that demonic energy tends to have one of two responses: Repulsion, or enticement. Some people feel comforted. Others feel disgusted. I made a mental note of this newfound feeling but kept it to myself. I had a paranormal event to go to and I intended on bringing Blondie. People of various religions were going to be there, and I wanted to showcase the doll alongside my ghost-hunting equipment. Was this a good idea? Probably not. Looking back on it, I’d say that the two-hour road trip with a haunted doll in the trunk was probably one of the five dumbest decisions I’ve ever made.

I took her back to the car, popped the trunk, and put her in. Three more days, I said to myself. Three more days.
