Phil Er Up at Phil's Steakhouse in Pacolet, SC!

Walking into Phil's felt downright wholesome! There was modest southern decor, customers with Trump T-shirts, and friendly waitresses. It was a very busy night, but once we were seated we were checked on by our waitress every 2 minutes! They care about your experience and service at Phil's.

Menu

The menu didn't have a lot of variety, but that didn't bother us. We were there for the steaks and home-made key lime pie! We had a choice of soft drinks, sweet tea, or tea. The tea wasn't exactly "southern sweet" so I sent mine back, and the waitress was glad to bring me a soda. I asked for their beer menu, and that's when things took a bit of a turn. They didn't offer beer at this steakhouse. How was I going to relish every last bite of my steak without a brewsky? Although, I was caught off guard, we still wanted to stay and give this establishment a chance. After all, in the small town of Pacolet there weren't going to be that many choices anyway. We stayed, and glad we did!

We Ordered

We ordered a couple steaks, shrimp, chicken tenders, baked potatoes, fries, and salads. The salad was up to par with one from any 5 star restaurant with good, fresh, healthy ingredients and they weren't sparing with them. Our steaks were cooked exactly the way we wanted them, but once biting into them we were dissatisfied with the amount of gristle and lack of any seasoning. It was throughout both of our steaks. The shrimp had great flavor and was cooked to perfection, unlike many restaurants who overcook their shrimp.

THE SAVING GRACE!

The home-made key lime pie was fantastic. Our family dug in and ate the whole slice in less than 2 minutes. The crust was crunchy, the pie was creamy, and the flavor was off the charts!

Rating

4 Dinner Forks With this being a lone steakhouse in a small town, we want to be fair to this establishment. We will try them again in a few weeks, and see if the gristle problem was a one time event.

Overall Thoughts

Wonderful service and staff that may need a new meat picker or supplier.
