The Flock Shop - Spartanburg, SC

Guest Food Critic, The Beard, reviews EAT DRINK FLOCK SHOP of Spartanburg, SC.

"I was already at home the moment we entered The Flock Shop. Led Zepellin's "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" was playing on the radio.

The host stand was a waist high red toolbox, and the interior was cleverly decorated concrete and rust. After all, it was an old gas station renovated into a southern/fusion style restaurant. Our host led us out back to one of the patios where we were able to soak in the summer warmth and humidity.

The limited menu was a nice change from the extreme variety we have been seeing other places. Their mixture of Southern and Korean was a fusion foodie's heaven. Their wings were so hot that tears and sweat dropped from my face as I relished every last bite of crunchy flavorful heat. Their Bloody Mary could have been a small meal by itself, garnished with chicken and vegetables with just the right amount of alcohol mixed in. For sides I got their pimento macaroni and cheese, a true southern delicacy, and Adluh Farms stone ground grits with bacon, goat cheese, and spiced crushed pecans. They had craft specialty beer offerings that I was excited to try, but unfortunately they were out of that day. For beer I settled with a 40 oz. Miller High Life , which they presented to me in brown paper bag.

We ordered

The Nitty Gritty Bowl - Adluh Farms stone ground grits, collard greens, pepper relish, goat cheese, hot honey, Alabama white, chives 3 Fried Chicken Tenders - Crispy, Hot Hot, Flock Style (Alabama white & hot honey drizzle) 40 oz. Miller High Life Cliffton Beach - Admiral Nelson’s, white & spiced rums, mango, pineapple, creme de banana, grenadine Sprite

Service

Our servers were attentive, and the general manager even stopped by the table to check in on us. Our food was presented beautifully, and the to-go boxes also matched their branding and theme. They weren't just your regular styrofoam boxes. Their branding was impeccable and unforgettable. The pricing was incredible! My wife and I walked out spending only $45 for 2 meals, a soda, a cool cocktail, and a 40.

Rating

4.8 Forks Recommendation to achieve a 5 fork rating would be to make known to every server what is and isn't available on a given day.
